Turnberry Country Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Lakewood, Illinois; 60 miles northwest of Chicago and just outside Crystal Lake.
The course was designed by Larry Packard. Turnberry's golf course first opened for play in 1972.
Turnberry is draped across 166 acres and offers a spectacular panoramic view from the elevated 11th tee. The challenge of making par at the 220 yard 3rd hole and 544 yard 17th hole are also among the many delights of playing Turnberry. Despite generous fairways and virtual lack of green-front bunkers or water, the greens will demand good shot-making to prevent slick downhill putts or chips from running by the hole.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,852 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,825 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 6, a par-5 that plays to 562 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 8, a par-3 that plays to 182 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 5, a 432-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 11, a 184 yard par-3.
